Out of the celebrities you work with, which ones wear extensions?
Lauren Valez of DEXTER on Showtime is currently wearing a full head of extensions by Ellin LaVar.

How do you feel the extensions enhance her style?
The extensions enhance her style by adding a sexy, sultry look to her character. They give her hardnosed character a feminine side without diminishing her power.

Does she wear them daily, or just to special occasions?
Lauren wears her extensions while she is filming DEXTER.  They provide protection for her natural shoulder length hair. The extensions also give her a lot more flexibility with hairstyles on set. She can easily straighten her hair by spraying a little ThermMist by Ellin LaVar TEXTURES, before she flatirons her extensions.  Or go curly with a mist of water and some LiquidMotion, also by ElliN LaVar TEXTURES.

Are the extensions human hair or synthetic?  Are there pros/cons to both?
I prefer to work with human hair extensions. They are more like natural hair. They can be washed, conditioned, curled, colored and permed.  None of the fore-mentioned processes can be applied to synthetic hair. However, synthetic hair does last longer than human hair when used for braiding.  Human hair tends to expand and slip when washed, whereas, synthetic hair maintains its shape and tightness.  Human hair is much softer than synthetic hair. Human hair is also less likely to irritate the scalp.

Do you work with glue-ins, clip-ins, or braided-in extensions?
I have worked with glue-in, clip-in and braid-in extensions. I prefer the braided in extension method. This method provides the most protection for the wearers natural hair. The braided-in method of applying extensions also lasts longer than the other methods.

Is there a special way to style the extensions?
When styling extensions, one has to be very careful not to expose the point where the extensions have been attached.  Also, check your entire hairdo when finished to make sure that any thin areas of your own hair are covered. Most importantly, make sure there is no separation between your hair and the extension hair.
